The three seasons of Reacher have established the show as a tightly made action thriller: the basics are handled with care, the action is well choreographed, and Alan Ritchson brings a strong lead performance. Still, the series is not immune to logic issues and occasional lapses in plausibility.

A recurring weakness is how the show treats Reacher’s romantic life. The hero repeatedly encounters capable women, shares brief affairs, and moves on—an approach that echoes James Bond more than the steadier, justice-driven figure the books often present. That pattern has played out with Roscoe Conklin in Season 1, Karla Dixon in Season 2, and Susan Duffy in Season 3, leaving little sense of long-term attachment.

Season 4, slated for late 2026 after the Neagley spin-off, will adapt Gone Tomorrow, Lee Child’s 13th Jack Reacher novel and introduce NYPD detective Theresa Lee. If the show follows the book and repeats the same beat—romance that dissolves once the case is closed—fans may find it monotonous.
