The Elder Scrolls Online has achieved Steam Deck Verified status after two years of tweaking. It had carried the yellow "Playable" badge since 2024 while Zenimax Online worked toward full verification. The biggest hurdle was the external launcher, which required mandatory mouse input and defaulted to mouse-and-keyboard controls in-game until players changed the preference.

With those issues addressed, the MMO should run well on Valve's handheld without additional tweaking, making it easier to enjoy low-intensity sessions away from a desktop. Bethesda's single-player games already rank among the Steam Deck's most-played titles, and ESO offers a similar couch-friendly appeal.

Fraser Brown pointed out that the Steam Deck verification process can be uneven. Even with verification badges, some games remain a poor fit: Oblivion Remastered is not recommended on Deck, Skyrim has been labeled "Unsupported" despite being playable, and Dread Delusion was Verified for years but only became a good Deck experience after a recent update.
