After a contentious day at Xbox marked by CEO Asha Sharma's warning of personnel cuts, chief content officer Matt Booty briefly shifted attention to The Elder Scrolls 6. His comments followed the company’s recent Xbox Games Showcase, where the game was notably absent.

Booty described the challenge of deciding when to show a game: you want to excite people, but you also don’t want to promise a near release before you’re ready. He said he had visited Bethesda, sat with Todd Howard and seen Elder Scrolls playing, adding that it looks amazing and it’s coming along well, and that the team will reveal it at the right time.

The takeaway is familiar: the game is playable and Bethesda continues to work on it, but it isn’t at a stage Xbox is comfortable promising a soon release. Its absence from the showcase was meant to signal precisely that—no imminent announcement. Meanwhile, concerns linger over a message titled Next 100 Days: Xbox Reset, which paints a bleak picture of the division and suggests significant cuts could be coming.
