The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth hits new Steam concurrent peak
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth reached a new all-time concurrent player peak on Steam, drawing 123,429 players at once. The number has eased slightly since then but remains comfortably in six figures. Rebirth first released in 2014, effectively supplanting the original Flash version.
Mods helped the game bloom into a variety of new forms after Let's Play and Twitch circuits drew countless eyes, and Isaac still sits near the top of the roguelike pile alongside titles like Slay the Spire, Balatro, and Rogue.
A 2011 review gave the game an 83%, saying it will "draw you in and spit you out without a second thought." Players simply refuse to be spit out, trapped in an endless cycle of punishment and rebirth not unlike Isaac's relationship to Christianity.
The new peak edges past Mewgenics's all-time high of around 115,000. Steam's summer sale currently lists Rebirth at $1.49, the steepest discount in the game's history; the original Flash-based game is about five cents more expensive.
