Taylor Swift, 36, became the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame during Thursday’s 2026 Induction and Awards Gala at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. In a tearful acceptance speech she thanked her parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, and her brother Austin for “uprooting their entire lives” to move from Pennsylvania to Nashville, which she called “the songwriting capital of the world.” “You’re the reason I am here tonight,” she said.

Swift is also the first artist to progress from winning the Hall’s Hal David Starlight Award in 2010 to full membership in 2026, a milestone arriving 20 years after the release of her debut single, “Tim McGraw.” The Hall highlighted songs such as “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version),” “Blank Space,” “Anti-Hero,” “Love Story” and “The Last Great American Dynasty.” She has said many of her best ideas come “in the middle of the night” when she wanders to the piano.
