Lego exec says Pokémon resellers aren't a major concern
Pikachu-branded items have been selling out in 2026 — trading cards, apparel and books — and past Lego Pokémon releases fetched as much as $650 on resale. Lego says that surge of resellers isn't a major concern. The new sets include Smart Bricks and Smart Tags that let pieces communicate; the Pokémon figures carry internal stats and typing, can be trained to grow stronger, and can be used to simulate battles.
Although aimed at children, Lego's Smart Play functionality should appeal to a wide audience. There are a dozen sets releasing on August 1, and pre-orders remain open for those revealed in early June 2026. Prices start with a $14.99 Jigglypuff set and go up to a $119.99 Charizard and Jolteon set, the latter including two Smart Bricks — fairly accessible price points for Lego.
