The best God of War Laufey fan theories
Fans have been unpacking what the new game might reveal about Faye, whose real name is Laufey. In the Norse games she is a Jotünn warrior from Jötunheim who opposed the Aesir, and the upcoming title starts with her waking in the Everywhen, an afterlife for gods from across pantheons.
Players note the reboot shifted the series to Midgard and opened with Kratos and Atreus on a journey to spread Faye’s ashes, and now Laufey’s attempts to steer events from the Everywhen could explain a lot of what followed. One popular idea holds that gods Kratos kills in the living world will appear in the Everywhen, so Baldur, Magni, Heimdall and others might turn up to confront Laufey.
The game’s trailer already shows deities like Begtse and Sekhmet, which has led some to speculate that figures tied to Kratos’ past—possibly even Ares or Zeus—could reemerge.
