In an era of spiralling PC component prices, the Koorui 34E6UC is a refreshing change. This 34-inch ultrawide offers an immersive 3,440 by 1,440 panel and a punchy image for a very low price — you can find it on Amazon for about $264 in the US or £199 in the UK — but it is not without compromises, most notably in pixel response.

Technically the monitor is straightforward: a VA-type LCD with a claimed 1 ms pixel response and a 165 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits brightness and VESA DisplayHDR 400. There’s no mini-LED backlight or full-array dimming, and the gently curved 1000R panel has a matte anti-glare coating.

Inputs include DisplayPort and two HDMI ports (the HDMI ports top out at 100 Hz), and the stand offers height, tilt and swivel adjustments. Given the value positioning, there’s no USB-C or onboard USB hub. Image quality leans on VA strengths and weaknesses. With about a 3,000:1 static contrast ratio it delivers deeper blacks and a punchier look than many IPS screens, and sRGB and DCI-P3 presets are well calibrated.
