Kevin Bacon Returns to Amazon in Demon Thriller Summoner
Kevin Bacon has signed to lead Summoner, a horror thriller being developed for Amazon MGM Studios. He has become one of Amazon's recurring leading men, previously headlining Prime Video's I Love Dick and playing Hub Halloran in The Bondsman. A longtime genre presence, his past work includes Friday the 13th, Tremors and Stir of Echoes.
Bacon will play Jefferson Haddock, an exorcist called out to an isolated witness protection property to confront a demon trapped there. In trying to expel the creature, he accidentally unleashes a powerful, destructive force that threatens him and everything around him.
Summoner is the feature directorial debut of Jeremy Slater, who also wrote the script. Slater’s credits include co-creating Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, writing Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Mortal Kombat II, serving as head scribe and creator of Moon Knight, and crafting Fox’s The Exorcist sequel, which drew praise for its tense, grounded storytelling and performances.
