Harry Kane etched his name into the history books during England's World Cup match with Croatia, converting a rare second chance from the penalty spot and later equalling Gary Lineker's England World Cup scoring record.

Less than 10 minutes in, Noni Madueke was felled by Luka Modric and referee Clement Turpin awarded a penalty. Kane's initial spot-kick was saved by Dominik Livakovic, but VAR showed the goalkeeper had moved off his line and Josko Gvardiol had encroached; after a retake Kane tucked the ball into the same corner.

Croatia responded when Martin Baturina curled a strike past Jordan Pickford, prompting Thomas Tuchel to shout instructions to the goalkeeper: "Do as I told you." Kane then rose to head England back in front before the interval, the goal bringing him level with Lineker at 10 World Cup goals, but Petar Musa struck in the final minute of the half to make it 2-2.

Jude Bellingham gave England the perfect start to the second half by firing in to make it 3-2.
