Inside Nolita's Café Mulberry, a discreet hotspot for stars
Café Mulberry is a cozy French restaurant in Nolita that has quietly become an escape for high‑profile figures such as Rita Ora, Jason Momoa and Ed Sheeran. Co‑owners Justin Sievers and Leo Jacob say they aimed to create a discreet, intimate place where guests feel safe and can relax.
The pint-sized, 25‑seat candlelit dining room is lined with exposed brick and photos of celebrity guests; one picture shows Momoa behind the bar pouring beer and another captures Ora with husband Taika Waititi. Chef Nicole Gajadhar’s refined French menu is popular with stars, with favorite dishes including French onion soup, steak au poivre with pomme purée and the 48‑hour brined chicken, which Momoa and his The Wrecking Crew cast enjoyed.
A casual café counter at the front still serves lattes, sandwiches and pastries, while a tucked‑away secret garden—with scalloped umbrellas, brick flooring and lush greenery—evokes the South of France.
