Capcom commits to more original IPs after Pragmata’s success
Pragmata proved an unexpected success when it launched earlier this year, selling over two million copies in just 16 days and drawing strong critical and fan reception. Capcom says the game might have what it takes to join its stable of ongoing franchises alongside Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter.
In its latest financial briefing the company stressed that “the creation of completely new IPs is an important initiative that supports our sustainable growth, and we intend to continue pursuing it.” It added that the development and sales expertise cultivated through new IP work contributed to Pragmata’s success and will be leveraged in future operations.
Capcom also highlighted steps to strengthen its development structure through hiring and human resource investments, saying its on-site training and development capabilities are steadily improving.
