Louis Rossman, a tech YouTuber and consumer rights advocate, is suing Samsung after a 4 TB 990 Pro SSD he bought failed and the company said it could not replace the drive, even though the model appears in stock on Samsung's Amazon store. Rossman says he bought the drive from Best Buy about a year ago and placed it in a RAID-1 array.

When it stopped responding he contacted Samsung for an RMA; his initial ticket went to Samsung Canada B2B support and was briefly closed because he could not supply a photo within 24 hours. The case was later reopened, but Samsung's test results reportedly said the returned drive was "verified as good" and the company returned it to him.

He demonstrated inconsistent write speeds on the drive, ranging from roughly 20 to 160 MB/s, and says Samsung apologized but told him there is a market-wide memory shortage and that warranty service does not have his model for replacement or a comparable upgrade.
