The long-delayed sequel to Telltale Games’ 2013 detective title has survived studio closures, engine changes and layoffs and now appears on track for a 2027 release. A live demo at Summer Game Fest showed the project working in a rebuilt pipeline after the studio rebooted the game a few years ago.

Director Zak Garriss and design director Jess Campbell walked through a scene that keeps the series’ choice-driven mystery but pushes it into darker territory. The demo drops Bigby Wolf into Queens, where he and Faye investigate a magically altered apartment; the game’s illustrated art style plays well in motion despite some unfinished assets.

Gameplay retains Telltale’s branching dialogue but expands investigation mechanics, adding puzzles and an over-the-shoulder third-person camera for sequence work. Players can still shape the story through choices — for example whether to reveal magic or confess to stealing evidence — and puzzles offer an auto-solve option for those who prefer the narrative.
