007 First Light's Land Rover placement feels like an infomercial
James Bond has long been wrapped in luxury brands — Rolexes, Astons, Sony Vaio — symbols as much as accessories. 007 First Light continues that tradition, stocking its world with Omegas, a Leica and branded glasses, which mostly reads as gaudy but on-brand for Bond.
That changes in Aleph, where the game leans so hard into one sponsor that characters take on the manic cheer of Laura Linney in The Truman Show. Bond and his mentor Greenway arrive in Mauritania in a Land Rover, explore in a Land Rover and repeatedly refer to it as 'the Land Rover', never simply 'the car'.
When they meet pirate king Bawma (that'd be Lenny Kravitz), the conversation revolves around the vehicle: 'My men brought your Land Rover around for you,' and 'I assumed you'd be chow by now, so I gifted that Land Rover of yours to my bodyguard, Neenee.' Greenway even quips, 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned for Land Rover.' The repetition—lines like 'Go and get the Land Rover!' and 'They took out the Land Rover'—prompted amused disbelief from players.
