CryZENx, the developer behind a fan-made remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, has ended the project after Nintendo announced an official remake for Switch 2 later this year. In a Patreon post, CryZENx wrote, "I would like to tell you that [the] Ocarina of Time Project is officially stopped." The team had been working on an Unreal Engine remake since 2016, sharing updates on YouTube and releasing a playable demo in May.

Development had appeared slow but steady in recent years. Reacting to Nintendo’s reveal, CryZENx said, "I'm actually very confident that their remake looks 200% better than mine, I'm very impressed for their realistic artstyle I think we the community won!!!" The developer also joked, "it's better to just stop the project for now or I would [have] been [disappeared] because of Nintendo ninjas." A poll accompanying the announcement asks fans what CryZENx should remake next, with options like Twilight Princess and The Minish Cap, while noting a Majora's Mask project is unlikely.
