Zack Snyder's Twilight of the Gods rewards binge viewing

Twilight of the Gods, Zack Snyder's first television series, premiered on Netflix in 2024. The eight-episode animated fantasy draws on Norse mythology, reimagining figures such as Thor, Loki, Baldr and Odin while introducing original characters Sigrid and Leif.

Snyder, who has in recent years praised the creative possibilities of TV, directed only the first and last episodes. He teamed with Jay Olive—his collaborator from Man of Steel and Batman v Superman—to portray a far less kindly Thor and to center the story on Sigrid’s revenge, choices that keep the narrative unpredictable.

The production pairs lavish visuals with strong vocal performances: Hakeem Kae-Kazim voices Baldr, Pilou Asbæk plays Thor and John Noble is Odin, while Hans Zimmer supplies the score. Those elements give the series a mythic atmosphere and sharpen the emotional stakes beyond standard Old Norse retellings.
