Yoko Taro, who previously called the first Stellar Blade "much better" than his own Nier: Automata, said in a machine-translated Twitter post sharing a Famitsu story that, "I really feel like I have to buy this one, too," after the sequel Stellar Blade: Blood Rain was announced.

Shift Up head and Stellar Blade director Hyung-Tae Kim replied (also machine translated), wishing Taro a belated happy birthday and thanking him in advance for the purchase. Taro's birthday is June 6 and he is now 56 years old; he replied by congratulating Kim on the Blood Rain announcement.

The two have spent time praising each other's work: Nier: Automata served as a guiding star for Stellar Blade, and Taro said he was surprised by the quality of Korean games when he saw it in an old IGN Japan interview. Stellar Blade later received a Nier: Automata-style DLC.
