Diomande names Vini and Mbappé as inspirations amid €100m move

RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s most feared attackers, and Europe’s elite clubs are circling ahead of a possible summer move that has put Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain in contention. On his footballing education Diomande said: "My idol before was Cristiano Ronaldo and I also like R9 but I am looking at a lot of players like Vini and [Kylian] Mbappe.

I am trying to look at players who play the same position as me to try to take the good things and reproduce them on the pitch." The 19-year-old stresses he is still developing: "I am a human being. I can make mistakes. If you did not do a good game, you need to recognise it and work hard for the next." His breakout season included a league-high 118 successful dribbles and he says he aims to improve "even one per cent" every day.
