Xbox developing live-action Sea of Thieves movie

Xbox announced a live-action Sea of Thieves movie, developed with Hisako Films, the production company of Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton. A director or writer has not yet been attached. The game, which debuted in 2018, puts the player in control of a pirate who completes voyages across an open world.

Players can play solo, duo, or in a group, and the game features a treasure map and chest as well as threats such as a megalodon and a kraken. Weapons include cutlasses, blunderbusses, throwing knives, blowpipes, and harpoon guns. "The main character of a Sea of Thieves game is actually the player and the community," Booty told Entertainment Weekly.

"So if you sit down to think about Sea of Thieves, it's not, 'Who are the main characters? What's the plot?' It's a super social game, but there's a tone to Sea of Thieves.
