Xbox says it's had 'record orders' for GTA 6 despite PS5 lead

With GTA 6 pre-orders live, players are securing copies on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though no PC release is yet scheduled. IGN Finds' affiliate data shows PlayStation is outperforming Xbox by a rate of 8-to-1.

Sony has said "Grand Theft Auto 6 plays best on PS5." Microsoft, speaking to Windows Central, urged caution about the IGN figures: "This doesn't represent pre-order data," and added, "We've had record orders. People should wait for real data and not clicks on affiliate links."

That response suggests Xbox's pre-order performance may be stronger than the affiliate numbers imply. Actual pre-order totals may not be revealed until the game's November 19 release draws nearer.
