New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has suggested major changes are expected within Microsoft’s gaming division over the next 100 days, and recent reporting has outlined what some of those changes may be. A Windows Central report said many games published by Xbox in recent years — including Avowed, Forza Motorsport, Keeper, Kiln, Minecraft Legends, Ninja Gaiden 4, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and South of Midnight — did not meet expectations for sales or Game Pass retention.

Rising hardware costs, bloated development timelines, and several canceled projects have also hurt Xbox’s bottom line, the piece explained. A separate report from The Information described a refocus on Xbox’s biggest franchises, such as Halo, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls, with new leadership aiming to reinvest in those safer bets.

The same report said Microsoft is considering spinning off Xbox — potentially restructuring it as a wholly owned subsidiary or a joint venture other companies could invest in or buy — though it noted no such radical change is imminent.
