Asked why The Elder Scrolls 6 wasn't included in the Xbox Showcase, Matt Booty said timing presentations is a difficult balance: you want to show the cool stuff you’re working on and excite players, but you also have to wait for the right moment and the best build.

He added that after visiting Bethesda and sitting with Todd Howard to see the game, "it looks amazing, and it's coming along well," and that the team will "announce it and really reveal it at the right time." Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018, a reveal that followed seven years after Skyrim and, the article notes, came eight years ago.

That long silence has left many fans frustrated and intensely eager for more. Part of that frustration stems from the reception to Fallout 76 and Starfield, which divided players and left some questioning the studio's ability to return to the series' classic form.
