Xbox announces special edition anniversary console and controller for fall 2026

Xbox announced a new Xbox Series X special edition during the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, and it's perfect for nostalgic Millennials. The Xbox Series X25 celebrates 25 years of Xbox with its design, inspired by a green Halo-inspired special edition of the original Xbox.

It features a translucent design like the hardware of yesteryear, such as the iconic Game Boy Advance, and sports Xbox's signature green color. The trailer even features gameplay of Halo: Campaign Evolved, because 2026 is really just 2001 all over again. "The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way," a news release said.

A special edition translucent green controller was also announced. Its ABXY buttons feature the original Xbox controller's color scheme, and one bumper is white while the other is black as a callback to the controller's original black and white buttons.
