Xavi suggests Pep Guardiola could target a national team, possibly England
Pep Guardiola has officially called time on his legendary stay at Manchester City, leaving a legacy of 20 trophies after a decade of dominance at the Etihad Stadium. While the Catalan tactician is set for a temporary sabbatical, speculation is already mounting regarding his next destination in the dugout.
His contract had been due to run another year, but he felt the timing was right to step aside, with Enzo Maresca poised to succeed him. Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez said he believes Guardiola may move into international management. "He’s a genius and you never know in the brain of a genius and what he will do but if I have to say something, maybe he’s waiting for a national team," Xavi explained.
Xavi was specifically asked whether Spain or England could be realistic options, and highlighted Guardiola’s connection to English football and his familiarity with many of the current England players from his time at City. When asked if it could be Spain or England, Xavi replied: "Why not?
