Apple’s WWDC 2026 event kicked off this morning at 10 a.m. PT at Apple Park, launching a week of announcements around Siri, iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and developer demos. The keynote was notable as CEO Tim Cook’s last with the company; he said he will hand leadership to Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus on September 1.

The event also served as a platform for Apple’s renewed push to upgrade Siri and its broader AI efforts after moving some work to Google and delaying earlier releases. Apple presented an overhaul of Siri, saying the assistant will become more capable, conversational and visually aware with Google Gemini powering the updates.

Siri will appear in a standalone app while remaining integrated across existing apps. The company emphasized a privacy-centric approach, with Craig Federighi saying privacy in AI is non-negotiable and that data will be used only to execute requests, with outside experts able to verify that promise.
