Would You Rather: Romesh Ranganathan’s low-effort gameshow

I felt 100 years old this week watching a new Prime Video gameshow, Would You Rather: Decide to Survive (Prime Video, from 26 June), which features 10 famous online stars, zero of whom I’ve heard of. Lining up to compete are King Kenny, Bambino Becky, Stephen Tries, Elz the Witch and Chunkz among others.

The title sounds hardcore, but it turns out to be a mostly physical elimination contest hosted by Romesh Ranganathan. Two teams face off in ludicrous challenges built around party-game dilemmas — would you rather fight a man-sized horse or a horse-sized man, have glass hands or concrete feet, sweat milk or poo seashells.

One round coats a team head to toe in lube while the other is stuck to the track in Velcro bodysuits; there are giant inflatables, disgusting fluids are gargled, and the whole thing often feels like a nostalgic, adult sports day that echoes Gladiators or It’s a Knockout.
