Blizzard offered the first detailed look at new content and changes coming to World of Warcraft in the first major update of the Midnight expansion cycle. Patch 12.1, titled Curse of Ula'tek, is due later this summer, and development notes for the early version headed to the Public Test Realm give a thorough rundown.

The patch continues the Midnight campaign and picks up the Zul'jan questline from this week's 12.0.7 patch. It adds a new island off the coast of Zul'Aman, the Coiled Isle, described as a corrupted ecosystem filled with poisonous waters and venomous foes. While on the Coiled Isle players have access to custom talent trees, many public events, and a new Cursed Fishing activity.

Curse of Ula'tek also brings a new raid, The Venomous Abyss; a dungeon, Altar of Fangs; and three new Delves. It introduces Lairs, a variation on one-off world bosses located in instanced encounters like dungeons, where players can choose difficulty and summon allies.
