With One Scene, Dutton Ranch Becomes Yellowstone’s Successor
A single scene in Dutton Ranch’s sixth episode, "A Cowboy Saint," makes a strong case for the series as Yellowstone’s natural successor. The episode closes with Beulah Jackson speaking plainly to Beth about a subject Beth would rather forget: her adoptive brother.
Beulah’s line — "One has to wonder what really happened" — hangs in the air after Beth insists, "I don't think about him anymore." The exchange suggests Beulah may know more than she lets on, and it leaves Beth and Rip under new pressure while they work at the 10-Petal Ranch.
That careful handling of the Jamie question contrasts with Marshals, where an early mention of Jamie’s whereabouts in the episode "Zone of Death" is raised and then immediately dropped. In that episode a brief confrontation becomes little more than a nod to the wider franchise rather than a thread the show intends to follow.
