CD Projekt Red CEO Michał Nowakowski said he is "not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc." He added that the studio "lost the faith of some people indefinitely," and expressed hope that The Witcher 4 or a future title can help the company make it back: "if not with The Witcher 4, then with whatever comes next." Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020 as a massive disappointment because technical issues and design restrictions left the game feeling underbaked.

While the narrative and gameplay core were praised, features teased before release weren't implemented properly and bugs were frequent. CD Projekt Red spent the next several years fixing and adding to the game; updates made it more stable across platforms, gameplay systems were reworked, and the Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023 received rave reviews upon launch.

The studio has since been developing several projects, including The Witcher 4 and a new Cyberpunk game.
