Witch Hat Atelier Tops Crunchyroll with Clever Magic System
Witch Hat Atelier has quickly become the most popular series on streaming, claiming the top spot on Crunchyroll's weekly chart. The fantasy TV landscape had been in a strange rut after a late-2010s surge of high-profile adaptations, and the show’s arrival as part of Crunchyroll’s Spring 2026 lineup feels like a fresh turn for the genre.
With just 10 episodes currently available to stream, it has already set a new standard for modern fantasy television. Adapted from Kamome Shirahama’s manga and animated by BUG Films, the series pairs striking visuals with a tightly conceived magic system. Coco, who dreams of becoming a magician, accidentally learns the truth and the key to casting spells, and finds herself caught in a war between philosophical factions that want to regulate how magic is used around the world.
Since debuting in April, Witch Hat Atelier has maintained a constant place on Crunchyroll’s Top 10, and at the time of writing it sits at number one.
