Moonshot Games has announced it will end further development on the spaceship shooter Wildgate after a forthcoming update. Game director Dustin Browder wrote on Steam that "Wildgate hasn’t found a large enough audience to sustain ongoing development," but added that "Wildgate is not going away." The team plans to continue posting occasional updates such as bug fixes, balance adjustments, and small events or rewards, and the game will remain available for purchase.

The new patch due in July will be the game's "last big patch for a while" and is intended to make sure "you can keep playing." Planned changes include more information on game modes, additional player-controlled options for custom modes, new sprays and store items, and a range of balance changes and bug fixes.

A small core team will "keep an eye on servers," though Browder said community management and player support will be reduced and the Wildgate Discord will be handed over to community members.
