Widow's Bay finale reveals Tom's son is the island's descendant
The Season 1 finale of Widow's Bay closes with a major twist about the island's curse. Rosemary's genealogy work points to one last living descendant of Richard Warren, and Mayor Tom Loftis goes to confront the woman identified as the heir: Ruth. Tom arrives prepared to end the line, spiking Ruth's tea with two of her medications.
Under their effects, Ruth confesses she once had an affair, gave the child to the man's wife to raise, and that the child was Tom's late wife, Lauren. Tom then realizes Ruth's grandson is his teenage son, Evan, tying Evan directly to the island's malevolence. The revelation raises immediate moral and practical questions.
As long as Evan lives the curse persists, and Tom must decide whom to tell and what to do next. Sheriff Bechir Clemmons is aware something is happening but does not know Ruth's connection, while Patricia and Wyck earlier suggested shooting Ruth when she was thought to be the last descendant.
