Just when modern slasher films seemed to be losing steam, the Terrifier franchise reemerged under Damien Leone's direction and screenplay, with Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) becoming a standout villain. The original Terrifier was made on a tiny budget of around $35,000; Terrifier 2 raised the stakes with a $250,000 budget and more than $15 million worldwide, and much of that attention centered on one infamous bedroom sequence.

The scene focuses on Sienna's friend Allie (Casey Hartnett). After she mocks Art for expecting candy, he pursues her in a prolonged, brutal assault: cutting the skin from her forehead, tearing off her scalp, ripping off her arms, then splashing bleach on the wounds and rubbing in salt.

A supernatural element keeps her alive far longer than should be possible, which intensifies the torture. Audiences reacted strongly; even seasoned horror fans found Allie's death difficult to stomach, with some leaving the theater.
