Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the leading contenders to sign RB Leipzig youngster Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old prefers a right-sided role, which gives those clubs an edge over Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who have viewed him primarily as a left-sided option.

On the Born N' Red podcast, journalist Ben Jacobs said Diomande is tempted by Liverpool or PSG and noted Bayern remain in the mix after Anthony Gordon moved to Barcelona. That positional preference has become a key factor in the transfer race. The contest appears to be centred on tactical fit rather than finance.

Liverpool's recruitment team and head coach Arne Slot see Diomande as a right-winger and a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, and PSG share a similar vision. Liverpool's immediate priority is to convince Diomande that Anfield offers the right-wing opportunities he wants.
