Whole-body rejuvenation drugs and five things to know about AI
David Sinclair plans to test a human “reprogramming” drug in a $101 million XPrize competition that aims to restore people to an earlier apparent age. The contest will judge improvements in immune, cognitive, and muscle function, and awards a grand prize to any team that can show a 10-year (or greater) relative improvement after one year of treatment.
Sinclair says he intends to give an oral drug mixture to volunteers in search of “evidence for age restoration in humans.” At SXSW London, Will Douglas Heaven laid out five things to know about AI: it is everywhere all at once, it’s becoming scarier, a backlash is growing, it’s turning into a major force for science, and—he quipped—he didn’t even need to show up to make those points.
His talk distilled the key themes he sees shaping technology and the wider economy today.
