Who is OG Anunoby? The Knicks star behind the Finals tip
Ogugua “OG” Anunoby delivered a dramatic finish in Game 4 of the NBA Finals in June 2026, tipping in a loose ball after Jalen Brunson’s long three bounced off the rim. The soft tip gave New York a one-point lead with 1.2 seconds remaining, and the Knicks held on to win 107-106, taking a 3-1 series advantage.
Anunoby was born in Harlesden, London, in July 1997 to Nigerian parents and moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, when he was 4. His father taught at Oxford Brookes University and his mother, Grace Ndidi Okereke, competed nationally in track and field for Nigeria.
His mother died on May 12, 1988 after a battle with cancer, and his father died in his sleep on Sept. 27, 2018. He played for the Hoosiers at Indiana University from 2015 to 2017, suffering a season-ending knee injury in January 2017 before declaring for the 2017 NBA draft.
