Which Mega Raichu Should You Use in Pokémon Champions?
Mega Raichu X and Y arrive in Pokémon Champions tonight with the new season and mobile launch, but you can only field one Raichu form per battle. Every player gets a Raichu and both Raichunite X and Y stones from June 17 to September 2 via the in-game mailbox, and the Mega Stones work only on the Kantonian Raichu, not the Alolan variant.
Mega Raichu X is the physical attacker and a solid all-rounder. Its base stats are HP: 60, Attack: 135, Defense: 95, Sp. Atk: 90, Sp. Def: 95, Speed: 110. The Electric Surge ability activates Electric Terrain on Mega Evolution, boosting electric moves by 30 percent and preventing grounded Pokémon from falling asleep.
That makes special options like Rising Voltage (which doubles on Electric Terrain) more viable, though physical moves such as Volt Tackle (which deals recoil equal to one third of the damage dealt), Wild Charge, Thunder Punch and Play Rough remain useful. Support moves like Fake Out, Encore and Volt Switch help it flex between sweeping and team support.
