Activision and Infinity Ward announced the next major installment in the Call of Duty franchise. This October, Modern Warfare 4 will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC. While looking at and sharing screenshots of the new game, we realized that it’s really hard to tell some of these Call of Duty games apart.

These developers have chased photorealistic visuals and characters for years, and many titles are set in the modern era with soldiers, so several of them end up looking quite similar. To test that, here are 12 screenshots from different Call of Duty games. No title is repeated; each screenshot includes a hint, and the answers appear at the end.
