When 'Cape Fear' Streams on Apple TV — Full Release Schedule
35 years after Robert De Niro delivered a chilling portrait of vengeful criminal Max Cady, Oscar-winner Javier Bardem steps into the role in Apple TV's adaptation of Cape Fear. The 10-episode series also stars Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Ted Levine, and Ron Perlman, and is being positioned as a prestige project likely to attract award attention.
Created by showrunner Nick Antosca as a small-screen retelling of John D. MacDonald's novel The Executioners and the 1962 and 1991 films, Cape Fear follows Tom (Wilson) and Anna Bowden (Adams), two defense attorneys who represented Max Cady 17 years earlier. Upon his release, Cady uses legal expertise to stalk, torment, and terrorize the couple and their family.
Cape Fear premieres on Apple TV on Friday, June 5, 2026. Apple’s release plan puts the first two episodes on that date, then one new episode each Friday, so the series will stream from June 5 to July 31, 2026. The pilot, 'Fingers & Toes,' was directed by Morten Tyldum; other directors across the 10 episodes include S.J.
