What links champagne, Mozart and veal pie? The Saturday quiz
The Saturday quiz presented 15 questions across history, language, art and pop culture. It ranged from what began to tilt in 1178 to which 1963 fantasy film Tom Hanks declared the "greatest movie ever made." Answers to the first eight questions were: Leaning Tower of Pisa; anglerfish; Montreal; Accrington FC; In Place of Strife (white paper); Pacific Ocean (1513); Impressionists; Jason and the Argonauts.
The "what links" round included: books by successive Bake Off judges — Mary Berry; Prue Leith; Nigella Lawson; and most-streamed songs by "primate" bands — The Monkees; Arctic Monkeys; Gorillaz. Also featured were subjects of their last words, reportedly: Champagne (Chekhov); Mozart (Mahler); veal pie (Pitt the Younger); whisky (Dylan Thomas).
