What is Gundam Rogue Orbit anyway?

You don't need to know your Universal Century from your Cosmic Era, or even how to pronounce GQuuuuuuX, to enjoy Bandai Namco's new Gundam game, its lead creators say. Gundam Rogue Orbit is set in a brand-new Gundam universe with all-new characters and serves as a jumping-on point for potential new fans.

It is being designed as a narrative-driven, single-player action game first and foremost. Humanity must fight for survival against an unknown alien threat. Players take on the role of RE-X (pronounced "Rex"), who pilots the high-mobility suit Gundam Helix against massive, heavily armored creatures.

Aiding him are the adorable Gundam mascot Haro "Vii," Sofia, and a "rag-tag crew of unsung soldiers" still to be revealed, with Bandai Namco promising deep connections through a human-centered, dramatic story. The reveal trailer drew comparisons to action-focused series like Armored Core, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry.
