What is Gloom used for in Mortal Shell 2?
Gloom in Mortal Shell 2 is a glowing white currency you pick up while chopping through enemies. The game also includes Coins, which you can safely expect to spend with a trader.
Gloom is used to level up your Harbinger, with each upgrade requiring increasingly larger amounts. You can level up at any Beacon, which shows the Gloom cost and the stat improvements you’ll receive. Because Gloom is lost when you die, your best bet is to level up as regularly as possible in case you can’t return to your death site.
If you do die, the lost Gloom appears on the map so you can try to recover it. You can’t use Gloom to upgrade Shells—those have their own currencies—and you’ll also want to use Seals and Tarstones to get the most from both your Shell and Harbinger.
