The Mandalorian and Grogu brought back Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta, now played by Jeremy Allen White. Rotta first appeared as a baby in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, kidnapped by the Separatists and rescued by Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.

The idea that Jabba had a son was a significant retcon that the wider franchise largely ignored for years. Early in the film Colonel War calls Rotta the “last living heir,” implying Jabba once had other children. There are no confirmed details about any surviving siblings; if they did exist they would seem to have died before the events of The Clone Wars, and given Hutt longevity it’s plausible earlier offspring perished long ago.

Rotta also appears to be the first member of Jabba’s immediate family to break away from the Hutt crime syndicate. Jabba and Rotta belong to the Desilijic family. The oldest living members are Mama and Papa Hutt, Jabba’s grandparents, who had three children: Jabba’s unnamed father, Ebor the Hutt (who died in 22 BBY), and Ziro.
