The Wayans Brothers Return for Scary Movie 6, 26 Years Later

Twenty-six years after the original Scary Movie, Shawn and Marlon Wayans are back with Scary Movie 6, which opened in theaters on June 5, 2026. The brothers built their careers on In Living Color and the sitcom The Wayans Bros., and they later co-wrote the 2004 comedy White Chicks with Keenen Ivory Wayans, Xavier Cook, and Michael Anthony Snowden.

The Wayanses were not involved with Scary Movie 3, 4, or 5. Marlon has said, “We got an announcement on New Year’s Eve that they were doing ‘Scary Movie 3.’ The franchise was stripped from us. And we were just asking for our fair share.” Early footage shows Scary Movie 6 lampooning recent horror hits, including Longlegs, Get Out, Weapons, and M3GAN.

The trailer borrows the Sunken Place from Get Out and includes characters who resemble Octavia Spencer’s Ma and Maika Monroe’s Lee Harker, while the film remains focused on the Cindy Campbell character at the center of the franchise.
