A Broadway musical based on Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis’s concept album Warriors will open next spring at the Lunt-Fontanne theatre. Andy Blankenbuehler will co-direct with Jenny Koons and will also choreograph the production. The album, released to critical acclaim in 2024, follows the Coney Island clan’s odyssey back to the Bronx after being falsely accused of killing the leader of the city’s biggest gang.

The original story was written by Sol Yurick, inspired by Xenophon’s Anabasis, and was made into a Walter Hill film in 1979. Davis pointed to a line that appears on both the album and the stage—"What do you do when they kill everything you believe in?"—and said the show will feature a company of about 20 and use a book rather than being sung-through.

Casting for the stage version has not yet been announced.
