Warframe Developers Say Destiny 2's End Is 'Heartbreaking'
Members of Warframe studio Digital Extremes reacted with sadness to news that Destiny 2 will no longer receive updates. 'It’s heartbreaking. It’s earth-shattering,' community director Megan Everett said. She added, 'I never thought I’d ever see the day where I’d read an article from Bungie about Destiny 2 essentially shutting down,' and said 'No one is celebrating the fact that this has happened to Destiny, and its players and that story.' Creative director Rebecca Ford posted on X about the impact Bungie games had on her life, writing that 'There is no Warframe without the legacy of Bungie games.' She described Destiny as 'a force of nature, loved and held in the hands of so many people who, for a moment, were part of the biggest thing in gaming,' and recalled buying Halo 3 at midnight with a friend.
Everett argued competition can be healthy for the genre, noting that 'rising tides float all boats' and saying she never expected anyone to play only Warframe: 'You would burn out so fast if you did.
