Wardogs moves its Steam early access date forward
Bulkhead's Wardogs will launch into early access on Steam later this summer, earlier than the studio had planned, after pre-release testing produced very positive feedback. A statement on the game's official X account said testers told the team that performance and optimisation exceeded expectations and, most importantly, that the game is fun.
Wardogs is billed on Steam as a tactical all-out warfare FPS where 100 players split across three teams fight over a control zone. Trailers show a Battlefield-style scale, but the studio says it is aiming for a middle ground between arcade-focused shooters and more realistic ones.
The team added its goal was not to be the biggest FPS but to build a healthy, sustainable community of 3,000 to 5,000 players, with anything beyond that considered a bonus. After Battalion 1944 couldn’t sustain the player base the studio had hoped for and eventually lost support—now existing as Battalion: Legacy with almost no players, per SteamDB—many eyes are on Wardogs.
