Wagner Moura Joins 'Oceans' Prequel as Lead Villain

Wagner Moura has been cast as the main villain in Oceans, the Ocean's Eleven prequel. The film stars Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper as the parents of Danny and Debbie Ocean, with Robbie producing through LuckyChap and Cooper directing. Filming is expected to begin in France in July, and the movie is scheduled to open in theaters on June 25, 2027.

Oceans centers on Robbie and Cooper's characters attempting a heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, while Warner Bros. continues development on Ocean's 14. Moura is an Academy Award nominee for Best Actor for The Secret Agent and is best known for portraying Pablo Escobar on Narcos.

His recent and upcoming work includes voicing Death in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Brander Lawson in Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord, a role in the drama The Last Day, and a part in Louis Leterrier's The Last House in 2026. He has said he turned down major Hollywood projects, including an unnamed DC film, and has avoided roles that perpetuate negative Latino stereotypes.
