Vinicius Jr scored a wonderful goal to salvage a 1-1 draw for Brazil after a languid Selecao performance as they opened their World Cup campaign in East Rutherford. The side started slowly and conceded first, but his strike restored parity before the break and gave the game some life.

Morocco's opener came when Brahim Diaz slipped a ball between Brazil's center backs and Ismael Saibari ran onto it, lifting over a stranded Alisson. Brazil responded out of nowhere: Vinicius took his first chance, cut inside onto his right and smashed the ball into the top corner, waking a surprisingly tepid stadium.

The second half promised more than it produced. Brazil replaced the beleaguered Casemiro at half time and brought on Matheus Cunha, but the Man United man never quite delivered. Vinicius remained a threat, yet a second goal never came as Morocco dug in and both teams settled for a point.
